The KSG 4500 is a Korean standard. Safes with this fire rating are designed to protect paper. During the tests, the temperature within the safe cannot rise above 177° C.
For safes rated KSG 4500 – 60, the safe is placed in a furnace for 1 hour, with temperatures rising to 924° C.
For safes rated KSG 4500 – 120, the safe is placed in a furnace for 2 hours, with temperatures reaching 1010° C.
For safes rated KSG 4500 – 180, the safe is placed in a furnace for 3 hours, with temperatures reaching 1122° C.
Safes might also be subjected to an explosive resistance test where they are placed in the furnace and rapidly heated, and to a fire impact test where they are heated and subjected to a drop test.
